Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation
November 2023 Community Spotlight
In April 2004, Kevin and Toni Spilsbury welcomed the arrival of their twins, Connor and Cassidy. Along with severe health complications, Connor was born blind. After release from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the challenges of caring for him at home were intensified by the lack of programs or resources for children or babies who are blind in Nevada.
Kevin is a fourth-generation Nevadan and business owner, so the idea of leaving the state to pursue resources for Conner was out of the question. Two years later, after much research and diligence, the Spilsbury’s opened the doors of the Nevada Blind Children's Foundation which introduced the first Braille and resource library in Nevada's history, in addition to programming and parent education.

It gives us the opportunity to advocate for this outstanding organization and show our support for their essential programs and services that assist blind and visually impaired children in Nevada.

Join Us In Making A Difference
November 2023 presents two important opportunities for our local community to show their support of Nevada Blind Children's Foundation (NBCF) and its mission.
Volunteer
First, NBCF will be holding its annual Thanksgiving event on November 18th. This occasion brings together students the day before to prep a full Thanksgiving meal, stay overnight, and then serve it to deserving members of our community the following day. Second, Giving Tuesday is back on November 28th.
