LAS VEGAS, November 24, 2020 Lexicon Bank proudly partners with Opportunity Village this holiday season to sponsor the 16th Annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run, which has gone virtual this year. In addition, the Bank will partner with Dessie’s Table, a vocational program and revenue generator for Opportunity Village, to purchase cookies for runner goodie bag treats and for Lexicon Bank clients to enjoy through December.

“We are honored to partner with Opportunity Village this month to bring awareness and support to their upcoming and ongoing winter programs,” said Stacy Watkins, Lexicon Bank President. “As a community bank, it is important to us to build back into the city we call home, and help create opportunities for all individuals to thrive within our Southern Nevada community.”

Opportunity Village is dedicated to helping adults with disabilities become the very best version of themselves. Through vocational training, community employment, day services, advocacy, arts, and social recreation, these individuals can find new friends, realize future career paths, seek independence and community integration, and unleash creative passions. Today, Opportunity Village operates four employment training center campuses, multiple business service lines, including custodial, printing, secure document shredding, and a new culinary line called Dessie’s Table, as well as a Thrift Store in Southern Nevada.

The Santa Run is one of Opportunity Village’s most important fundraisers, with all proceeds benefiting the programs and services for nearly 2,000 adults with disabilities in Southern Nevada. Primarily a self-funded organization, Opportunity Village generates the majority of its operational funding through its employment contracts and fundraising efforts, saving Nevada taxpayers more than $37 million annually. With their largest fundraising program Magical Forest canceled this year, it is more important than ever for the community to come together for support.

Dessie’s Table offers adults with intellectual and related disabilities vocational training and the opportunity to make a difference in their communities. The namesake begins with the history of Opportunity Village. Dating back to the 1950s, a group of families joined together after their children were diagnosed with disabilities, and among the band of parents was Dessie Bailey. She was one of the first founders, volunteers, and board members of Opportunity Village, and has helped the program become what it is today. All cookie proceeds go directly back into fueling Opportunity Village programs.

The virtual Las Vegas Great Santa Run will take place December 5 - 26 and can be completed at any convenient location. Participants can register for $30 by November 29 and find details on the race’s website at LVSantaRun.com. All registrations include a Santa suit (while supplies last), a finishers' medal, a virtual goody bag, a custom print-at-home race bib and the opportunity to be a part of one of the largest gatherings of Santas in the world. For locals, packet pick-up will be at Opportunity Village’s Oakey Campus on Monday, 11/30, Thursday, 12/3 and Friday, 12/4. Lexicon Bank’s Dessie’s Table treats will be onsite for runners to “cookie load” before the big virtual race.

Lexicon Bank’s partnership with Opportunity Village is a part of its Community Spotlight program, a monthly initiative that highlights local non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the Southern Nevada community.
