LIT's vision is to empower first-generation college graduates from diverse backgrounds to be the next generation of leaders who change the world by ending systemic and structural inequities as leaders in every sector, in every community redefining leadership. LIT's mission is to ensure Nevada youth from humble beginnings who would be the first in their family to graduate from college have an equitable opportunity to achieve a post-secondary education if they choose and become leaders of their own communities. Started by a former Clark County School District teacher for her former students, LIT has grown into an effective and established non-profit organization in Southern Nevada. Empowering over 250 students today from the 9th grade to college graduates, LIT has a 100% college acceptance rate, 80% postsecondary persistence rate at 20 different institutions in 8 states from NYU and BU to USC and the University of Michigan to all our local institutions. 100% of members commit to use their future success to support Nevada.
This May, Lexicon Bank is proud to spotlight Leaders in Training (LIT) through the sponsorship of their First Annual Homecoming Party celebrating Nevada’s first generation of college grads on May 19, 2022. In honor of their 10th anniversary, guests will enjoy drinks, modern party lounges, appetizers, music, and a program that will leave everyone inspired- all to help raise funds to help Leaders in Training continue to reach and offer valuable resources to students through higher education.
