IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTICE

Fraudulent Calls & Emails Impersonating Banks

Dear Valued Lexicon Bank Client,

Lexicon Bank has been made aware of recent fraudulent phone calls and emails targeting bank clients. Unfortunately, this type of scam is happening across the banking industry and is not unique to Lexicon Bank. Scammers often impersonate bank employees and attempt to pressure clients into sharing sensitive information under the pretext of “verifying” suspicious activity.

While these scams can happen to any bank, Lexicon Bank takes the security of our clients and accounts very seriously, and we want to ensure you are aware of what to watch for and how to protect yourself.

What we are seeing

  • Calls coming from “No Caller ID” or unidentified numbers
  • Callers claiming to be from Lexicon Bank and stating the call is being recorded
  • Claims of suspicious account activity and requests to confirm ACH and wire transfer details
  • Fraudulent emails claiming to be from bank employees and requesting clients open or download documents
  • Requests for clients to approve or complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) prompts during the call

Important reminder about MFA

  • Lexicon Bank will NEVER ask you to approve an MFA request on our behalf.
  • If you receive an MFA prompt that you did not initiate, do not approve it; this is often a sign that someone is attempting to access your account.

What you should do if you receive one of these calls or emails

  • Do not provide any personal or account information
  • Do not confirm ACH/wire details
  • Do not click links or download attachments
  • If you receive an email with an attachment you were not expecting, contact the sender directly using a trusted phone number (not the number provided in the email) to confirm it was sent legitimately
  • Hang up and call Lexicon Bank directly

How Lexicon Bank will verify suspicious activity

Please note: Lexicon Bank may contact clients to verify suspicious or unusual wire and ACH activity. These legitimate calls do occur. However, for your protection, we encourage clients to independently verify any call claiming to be from the bank.

  • Lexicon Bank will never request confidential or sensitive information via email. Any such request should be considered suspicious.
  • Lexicon Bank will always call from a number that shows “Lexicon Bank” on the Caller ID; however, caller ID can be spoofed, so this should be used as a first step only.
  • If you ever feel unsure, hang up immediately and call us directly to confirm.
