The Leading Community Business Lender Will Help The Respected Las Vegas Organization Reach Their Goal Of Providing Complete Health Care Services Focusing On The Needs Of The LGBTQ+ Community Across Southern Nevada.
LAS VEGAS, March 11, 2021 — Lexicon Bank, Nevada’s community-focused banking partner, teams up with The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada this month to help collect donations for the expansion of their health care clinic, the Arlene Cooper Community Health Center, during LGBTQ Health Awareness Week happening March 22 to March 26. Lexicon Bank has already pledged $5K to the cause and additional donations collected will support The Center’s goal of providing complete health care services and meeting the needs of Southern Nevada’s LGBTQ+ community.
This partnership with The Center is a part of the Lexicon Bank Community Spotlight program, a monthly initiative that highlights local non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the Southern Nevada community.
“We are excited to work with The Center this month not only to honor LGBTQ Health Awareness Week but to support such an important cause in our community,” said Stacy Watkins, Lexicon Bank President and CEO. “It is our philosophy to build back into our community and support all individuals to whom we share it with.”
Lexicon Bank has been a proud partner and supporter of The Center since 2019 when the team helped the non-profit refinance to preserve their landmark location. With this loan in place, The Center, an essential Las Vegas community advocate for over 25 years, will remain a staple in the community for years to come. In 2020, Lexicon Bank helped The Center secure the Small Business Association’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan funding to continue its success through the COVID-19 pandemic and meet the needs of a population that has been disproportionately affected by this crisis.
LGBTQ Americans, specifically LGBTQ people of color, experience a higher rate of challenges when seeking health care, which can intensify whatever worries they might have about their welfare. In response to the continuing crisis faced by LGBTQ people, which has worsened by the pandemic, The Center has launched a campaign to significantly increase their health and wellness support by offering, for the first time, a comprehensive program of services including full-service primary care and a pharmacy that will complement The Center’s existing HIV and STI testing and mental health services.
“We are thrilled to partner with Lexicon Bank as we work to make healthcare more accessible to the LGBTQ community,” says John Waldron, CEO of The Center. “Far too many people in the LGBTQ community experience challenges when seeking healthcare. Lexicon Bank’s efforts will help us stem the tide with new and accessible healthcare services that will improve the quality of life for LGBTQ persons, people of color and minorities, and the vulnerable populations we serve.”
