Spread The Word Nevada
Spread the Word Nevada (STWN) is the state’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit, distributing over 60,000 books a month to children in underserved neighborhoods. STWN has distributed more than 6.7 million free books to over 730,000 children in need since its inception in 2001. We are thrilled to help propel this important cause forward and get books into the hands and homes of children attending schools in underserved neighborhoods. When kids read, they succeed.
Lexicon Bank announces Spread the Word Nevada as its October Community Spotlight. The Bank will be raising funds to go toward their Books & Buddies program, donating books and driving advocacy for their literacy programs that benefit students across Southern Nevada.
Books & Buddies was developed to improve reading and comprehension skills of children-in-need by partnering them with volunteer mentors. These mentors provide their “buddy” weekly individualized attention to enhance literacy skills which are, unfortunately, often absent from the child’s home.
