Lexicon Bank Promotes Stacy Watkins to Chief Executive Officer
LAS VEGAS, January 21, 2021 — Lexicon Bank, Nevada’s community-focused banking partner, today announced that Stacy Watkins has been named as Chief Executive Officer in addition to President. Ms. Watkins’ appointment comes upon her exceptional performance in only ten months with Lexicon Bank.
Serving as President since April 2020, Ms. Watkins has made significant contributions to the Bank’s continued growth and success, including leading efforts to support small businesses and organizations throughout Nevada — particularly those who were most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Stacy started the job in the middle of a pandemic and during PPP financing, and under her leadership, the Bank still managed to exceed all expectations,” said Russell Rosenblum, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Lexicon Bank. “With every day that passes, she continues to build our brand…mostly through a focus on exceptional customer service.”
Under Ms. Watkins’ leadership, the Lexicon Bank team has helped over 600 small businesses apply for the Small Business Association’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and stay open, including restaurants, non-profits, gaming operators, and sole proprietors. Lexicon Bank secured over $115 million in funding for their clients, in turn saving more than 14,500 jobs for the Southern Nevada community.
“In only our second year of operations, under Stacy’s leadership, supported by a dedicated team committed to first-rate service, the Lexicon approach to providing business banking services and fully embracing opportunities for businesses such as the Payroll Protection Program have really distinguished the Bank as a valued partner to businesses all across the Las Vegas Valley,” said Robyn Caspersen Vice Chairman of the Board for Lexicon Bank. “Our growth trajectory remains strong, and with Stacy out front, we are well-positioned to provide the Las Vegas business community with the financial services needed to capitalize on the recovery momentum in 2021.”
Ms. Watkins brings over 27 years of experience in Banking to Lexicon Bank, with 23 years spent in management. In her 18 years working in Regional Management positions, Ms. Watkins was responsible for overseeing up to 74 locations, over 400 employees, over $1.1 billion in deposits and more than $300MM million in loans at some of Nevada’s leading financial brands and institutions.
Additionally, Ms. Watkins has further developed the Bank’s operational and customer-facing experience. Ms. Watkins leveraged Lexicon Bank’s standing as a banking partner in the Southern Nevada community by enrolling the Bank in the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce President’s Club, and accepting her position on its Women’s Leadership Council. Internally, Ms. Watkins has recruited and expanded an exceptional Business lending team, appointing three new relationship managers and additional underwriters. With her team, she expanded business hours to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m to deliver on the Bank’s commitment to providing exceptional service. Ms. Watkins also introduced the Lexicon Bank Community Monthly Spotlight program, a monthly initiative that highlights local non-profit organizations that are making a difference in the Southern Nevada community.
Upon her arrival, the Bank had accrued over $50 million in total assets, which is in direct result of the Bank’s seasoned team of Banking professionals, and explosive growth, and now has over $250 million in total assets — a true testament to the hard work and dedication she has committed to the success of the Bank.
Ms. Watkins has dedicated most of her career to furthering Las Vegas’ financial literacy and economic mobility by volunteering with several non-profits and participating in various community service opportunities. An active leader in the Southern Nevada community, Ms. Watkins has volunteered with Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada for 22 years, and has served the organization in various leadership roles, including Chairman of the Board. She also supports Clark High School’s mentor program by mentoring Clark High School students who attend the Academy of Finance throughout the academic year.
Ms. Watkins has a dual bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Watkins was also recently recognized for graduating from the Pacific Coast Banking School with a Business of Banking and Executive Leadership Certificate. As the premier national graduate school of banking, Pacific Coast Banking School participants are required to balance the demands of their jobs with time required to complete more than 200 hours of written extension assignments and management reporting during their enrollment.
