First African Methodist Episcopal (FAME) Church
November 2026 Community Spotlight
First African Methodist Episcopal Church in N. Las Vegas, NV (FAME NLV) is a part of the connectional (international) African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME) whose mission is to minister to the social, spiritual, physical, and environmental development of all people. The AME Church, and specifically FAME NLV, is committed to that mission in word and deed by promoting liberation. Rooted in the Free African Society, a mutual aid organization and precursor to the AME Church, the church has been dedicated to feeding, clothing, and serving the needy from the beginning. One of FAME NLV's primary objectives is to impact the social development of the community in which we sit. Since its inception in April 1966, this has taken many forms, but few are as impactful as the First AME Church Food Pantry, which currently distributes food every Thursday for 49 weeks of the year.

FIRST A.M.E. CHURCH FOOD PANTRY
Serving hundreds of families each week
The First A.M.E. Church Food Pantry, FAME NLV’s food security initiative, provides an important source of support for families throughout the community. Since 2004, the program has grown from serving 75–100 families each week to approximately 350–375 families in 2026, with food distributed every Thursday for 49 weeks of the year.
This work is made possible by 20 to 25 dedicated volunteers who help prepare, distribute, and organize food for community members arriving by vehicle or on foot. In partnership with Three Square, FAME NLV continues to provide much-needed resources while creating a welcoming and positive experience for every individual and family it serves.
